Strategic Sourcing Buyer

About the role.

We are recruiting for a Strategic Sourcing Buyer to join our Strategic Sourcing team. You will be working closely with the existing team and the wider Sourcing Operations department to deliver a phenomenal buying experience to our customers. This is a pivotal role in forming category strategies and its sourcing within multi-million-pound spend categories including biologicals, consumables, chemicals and large scale distributors.

You will work alongside and support the supply chain of some of the most pioneering and innovative companies within the Biotech Industry, who are working on lifesaving drug discovery, research and development and recently COVID-19 testing centres and vaccine manufacturing.

Our goal is for the customer to have faith that Amici has the right suppliers, best prices and no hassle service and performance.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for supporting the procurement and category management of a strategic category, ensuring the supply chain is optimised and delivering value to our clients through favourable supplier terms and market leading prices
Supporting the Strategic Sourcing Manager to deliver the strategic business goals through robust and effective project management
You will be required to manage multiple projects and activity at any one time with the ability to facilitate and consult with all stakeholders, prioritise actions and deliver on the objectives accordingly
You will perform smart spend analysis and supply chain analysis to assess opportunities and deliver on cost saving projects through effective supplier negotiations which are driven by client demand

What are we looking for?

Experience in an operational, project management, procurement, or commercial role in addition to having a strategic mindset, and keen to develop in the procurement profession
Has supported delivering projects with excellent organisation and planning skills and the ability to work to deadlines and flex to changing priorities
Have a solution driven approach to daily operational issues and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrate good negotiation skills with suppliers, working towards balanced, highly commercial, and sustainable term
Able to build close relationships with suppliers to gain commitment and ‘buy in’ with great communication and presentation skill
Enjoys leading by example with a strong work ethic and resilient nature
Thrives working with a flexible working approach and is able to work with your own initiative a positive approach
Understanding of the life sciences and/or biotech industry is desirable but not essential
